Directed by George Clooney
Written by George Clooney, Grant Heslov, and Beau Willimon
Total Academy Award Nominations: 1 (Best Adapted Screenplay)
This was a really thought-provoking piece, and while the screenplay award was really well deserved, I feel that this film was really passed over in other categories. It's another great movie from George Clooney in his capacity as a director, but like Ben Affleck (who directed and starred in the shamefully snubbed films Gone Baby Gone and The Town), the Academy seems to prefer him in his role as an actor or screenwriter.
The Ides of March also features shockingly good performances from Evan Rachel Wood and Ryan Gosling, who are usually actors for whom I care very little. I actually feel like they were unfairly treated in regards to their work on this film.
